With Programs in Somaliland, Punt land and South Central Somalia, our approach to is to design durable, sustainable and long lasting solution to problems affecting the communities we works with.

With funding from the United Nations Children Agency (UNICEF), SRDA is responding to the current drought in Somalia by implementing a 2 year’s Integrated Management of Acute Malnutrition (IMAM) in Luuq district of Gedo region. The project is providing basic health and nutrition support to children under 5 and pregnant and lactating women from Luuq district through fixed and mobile OTP units who will be administrating severe and moderate malnutrition

Position Summary

Under the supervision of the Senior Nutritionist the Screener will be responsible for the measurement of mid-upper arm circumference and recording accurate data of the beneficiaries U5 children. She / he will be responsible for doing beneficiary (U5 Children and Pregnant and Lactating mothers) data collection at both fixed and mobile OTP sites in Luuq district.

Main Responsibilities

o Mid-Upper Arm Circumference (MUAC) and Weight measurement of malnourished and pregnant and lactating mothers

o Record data accurately in the beneficiary card and beneficiary register

o Reception of beneficiary (mothers and children) at both fixed and mobile OTP sites.

o Share beneficiary data like weight with caretakers

o Manage and refer beneficiaries to the hospital or stabilization center (SC)

o In close consultation with the nurses and in line with admission criteria, admit patient

o Work with the project team and line supervisor and share report on daily, weekly and monthly basis

Qualifications, Experience and Requirements:

oDiploma in nutrition from a recognized institution or equivalent

oStrong knowledge of computer software package ( MS word, MS Excel) sound knowledge in Excel is an added advantage

oPrevious experience in working with humanitarian agencies

oTake responsibility in the work and show sense of ownership

oWork independently under minimum supervision

oAbility to plan, prioritize and execute assignment in timely and affective manner

oRespect the right of the beneficiaries and observe accountability

o Strong written and oral communication skills in English, including report development, writing and editing;

o Somali language in an added advantage

o Demonstrated knowledge of UNICEF programming and experience managing nutrition and health programs compliant with donor such as USAID, DFID, ECHO, EC regulations will be an asset;

o Proven program leadership, management, project planning, organizational, interpersonal, communication, and security management skills;

o Previous working experience in the chronic/forgotten crisis environment desirable;

Having Knowledge and Experience in the local context or being a former SRDA employee is an added advantage.**
