Africa Educational Trust specialises in education in conflict in East and Horn of Africa. We currently assist the Ministry of Education and Higher Education in the delivery of primary and secondary leaving examinations in Somaliland as well as other education programmes.
We need a Finance Assistant to be provide finance and administrative support including procurement, planning, monitoring and reporting on expenditure and maintaining accurate records for audits and accountability.
Reporting to the Country Manager, the Finance Assistant will efficiently execute finance and accounting operations, supporting the other functions of operations – administration, logistics and human resources - in ensuring effective support to the AET’s programmes. The role is expected to ensure the financial and legal integrity of AET within the framework of policies, procedures and statutory requirements. In addition, he/she will provide support to project teams on compliance to donor rules and regulations providing budgetary oversight on project activities. He/she is expected to maintain appropriate books of accounts, transaction activities and their relevant documentation
Candidates must have a Certificate in Accounting, demonstrable knowledge of financial management, accounting and procurement and at least one year’s experience in finance, accounting and logistics. They should be familiar with preparing financial records for audit, have good written and oral English and be proficient in MS Word and Excel.
Hours of work per week: 36
Salary: Competitive plus benefits
Fixed term contract: to 31st December 2019
