Role Purpose:

ROLE PURPOSE: The Project Officer will work under the guidance of the Social Norms and Participation-SNaP Program Manager and will be responsible for the implementation, supervision, monitoring and reporting of Social Norms and Participation-SNaP or Challenging Harmful Attitudes and Norms for Gender Equality-CHANGES project in Puntland.

The project officer will closely engage with multiple stakeholders including project's local implementing partner, community-based structures, CSOs, women associations, youth associations, line ministries including MoWDAFA and MoJRA as well as protection clusters members working on the Challenging Harmful Attitudes and Norms for Gender Equality in Somalia (CHANGES) project in the targeted locations under Galkacyo, Goldogob and Bursallah districts of Mudug region.

The Project Officer will spend most of his/her time with the project's local implementing partner to provide technical/ or financial guidance's with support from the SNaP PL Program Manager. In addition to this, the PO-SNaP/CHANGES project will regularly provide project updates/information to ensure that the local partner receive the necessary support and quality work is done.

Contract Duration: One Year.

Location: Galkio

· Minimum Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in Social Sciences, Psychology and Human rights.

· Professional trainings capacity on villages' savings and loans concepts and adolescent programming will be an asset.

· An understanding of the needs and rights of survivors concerning female genital mutilation, gender-based violence, and forced and early marriages categories.

· Good understanding on socio-economic impact of FGM, GBV or CEFM on the Somalia society as well as good understanding of the local context of the central regions of Somalia will be an asset.

· Minimum Three years of Prior experience in child protection, IDPs, returnees and refugees and youth immigration

· Minimum able to speak and write English. High level of knowledge of the Somali Language is mandatory.

· Good written language skills and the ability to write clear and well-structured reports.

· Proven record of previous child protection working experience on FGM and early marriage is required for this position.

· Experience of working with participatory methodologies, preferably involving children.

· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to work as a team member within a collaborative framework.

· The ability to work independently and use own initiative.

· Ability to plan and organize work, cope with pressure and prioritize competing demands on time.

· The ability to represent the organization and advocate with a wide range of partners, including government, NGO's and community representatives.

· Flexibility and the ability to effectively adjust expectations to on-the ground realities, while adhering to humanitarian minimum standards.

· Strength in inspiring and enabling others through teamwork, training, and capacity building to realize organizational objectives.

· Fluent oral and written communication skills in English.
