OVERVIEW OF THE POSITION
Our client is seeking experienced Cleaner to perform daily cleaning services. This contract receives day to day and week to week oversight from the line manager and other staff. Overall contract performance management is jointly monitored and evaluated by International Organization for Migration and government partner. International Organization for Migration will undertake contracting obligations and remuneration.
Four cleaners will be recruited for this role, who will be supported by two assistants.
GENERAL FUNCTIONS
Role objective:
The Cleaner will work full-time hours according to Somali Labor laws, performing daily cleaning services in all areas of the Transition Centre, including the kitchen (after each meal), offices, mosques, classrooms, washrooms and bathrooms, meeting/conference rooms, accommodation rooms, recreational spaces, etc. The cleaning of offices and furniture shall be conducted in presence of Centre staff.
The cleaning supplies (i.e. paper towels, liquid soap, toilet disinfectant, etc.) will be provided by Center Management.
The cleaning services will include, but not be limited to:
SWEEPING AND MOPPING ALL FLOORS
• Sweep and mop all floors.
• Move, sweep and mop under large furniture.
• Move all floor mats to sweep and mop under.
DUSTING
• Dust window sills, ledges and blinds.
• Dust low baseboards, ledges, doors, and frames.
• Dust all hard surfaces such as furniture.
RESTROOMS
• Clean sinks and wall areas.
• Clean toilets with chemicals including bottom and behind.
• Wipe down outside of towel and soap dispenser, inside and front of cabinets.
• Wipe tops, sides and bottoms of partitions and walls.
TRASH
• Empty all trash and garbage cans; put clean bags in each trash and garbage can.
• Each can is to be wiped inside and outside including all lids and handles.
Perform other cleaning duties throughout the day as needed
ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE
Education:
§ Completion of Secondary School education or equivalent.
Work experience:
§ Minimum of 5 years of demonstrable relevant Cleaning & Sanitation experience.
Geographical experience:
§ Minimum of 5 years of experience in Africa (essential).
Languages:
§ Fluency in English (desirable) and Somali (essential).

The appointment is subject to funding confirmation.
