Chemonics seeks a social marketing manager for the anticipated USAID-funded Improving Market Partnerships and Access to Commodities Together (IMPACT) activity in Madagascar. This $32 million, five-year activity aims to support technical assistance that strengthens the public, nonprofit, and commercial sector health supply chain systems for U.S. government-funded Maternal and Child Health, malaria, and family planning commodities. The activity will also strengthen the capacity of the Malagasy government to manage and sustain the supply of pharmaceuticals and health commodities; encourage expansion of the commercial sector to reach new markets and consumer segments; support social marketing that increases awareness of essential health projects at affordable prices; and promote health projects to create demand. The activity will apply a total market approach to sustainably increase the availability and accessibility of quality health products for the Malagasy people. Responsibilities Include:
- Oversee the development and distribution of socially marketed branded products according to market needs; develop brands for new products; or license existing brands as appropriate
- Assess the feasibility of all potential distribution channels for socially marketed products, including commercial distribution and the public sector supply chain and community health platform
- Manage the integration of the social marketing supply chain into public or commercial supply chains over the life of the project
- Employ market segmentation techniques, improve product mix, and achieve cost efficiencies along the supply chain to ensure that financially sustainable, socially marketed products remain accessible to Malagasy consumers
- Ensure the improved sustainability of social marketing to deliver affordable, accessible health products to the Malagasy people
Qualifications:
- A Master’s degree in health economics, communication, behavioral or social sciences, business administration, international development, or another related field
- Minimum of 10 years of recognized expertise in social marketing, public-private partnerships, supply chain management, or private sector capacity building and service delivery
- Demonstrated experience employing a total market approach in social marketing programs
- Demonstrated capability to supervise and manage social marketing components of projects of similar scope
- Proven leadership experience working collaboratively with high-level stakeholders in the host-country government and across sectors
- Working knowledge of and experience with U.S. government-funded activity management, policies, and procedures
- Experience working in West Africa or Madagascar preferred
- Demonstrated leadership, versatility, and integrity
- Proficiency in English and French required
