Madagascar: Senior supply chain advisor

Chemonics seeks a senior supply chain advisor for the five-year, $32-million, USAID-funded Improving Market Partnerships and Access to Commodities Together (IMPACT) program in Madagascar. IMPACT aims to improve the different supply chain systems for U.S. government-funded commodities for maternal and child health, malaria, and family planning. It will also work to strengthen the capacity of the government of Madagascar to manage and sustain the supply of pharmaceuticals and health commodities, encourage expansion of the commercial sector to reach new markets and consumer segments, support social marketing to increase coverage of essential health projects at affordable prices, and promote health projects to create demand. IMPACT will apply a total market approach to sustainably increase the availability and accessibility of quality health products for the Malagasy people by strengthening the public, nonprofit, and commercial sector health supply chains. We are looking for experienced individuals who have a passion for making a difference in the lives of people around the world.

Responsibilities include:

  • Provide technical direction for achieving strengthened capacity of the government of Madagascar to sustainably provide quality health products to the Malagasy people
  • Provide expert technical assistance to public, nonprofit, and commercial stakeholders in all aspects of supply chain management
  • Work across expected intermediate results to improve the capacity of the Malagasy health system to quantify, forecast, procure, and distribute pharmaceuticals and health commodities

Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in public health, business administration, logistics, international development, or a related field
  • Minimum 10 years of experience designing and implementing supply chain management programs, with at least five years working on programs in sub-Saharan Africa or other resource-limited settings
  • Recognized expertise in at least one of the following areas: quantification and forecasting, distribution systems (including “last mile”), logistics management information systems, capacity building
  • Demonstrated success improving the effectiveness and efficiency of supply chains
  • Proven management skills, including relevant experience in direct supervision of professional staff
  • Demonstrated leadership, versatility, and integrity
  • Professional proficiency in English and French preferred
