Background
The Danish Refugee Council (DRC) has been providing relief and development services in the Horn of Africa since 1997. DRC Mogadishu has several food Security and livelihood schemes including but not limited to; (Agriculture and farming support, micro-credit, grants, skills- and vocational training, business training, cash/food for work (asset creation) schemes, local economic development initiatives and even small- and medium enterprise development.
Purpose
Under the direct supervision of the Wash& Shelter Coordinator he will directly be involved in the day today implementation of Wash & Shelter activities of DRC Mogadishu office.
Key Responsibilities
Lead assessment of technical needs regarding Wash and Shelter in the IDP Communities in Mogadishu.
Prepare action plan shelter and latrine design in consultation with the Wash and shelter Coordinator
Ensure that the marginalised vulnerable communities including women participate in each of the project cycle related to Wash and shelter.
Facilitate trainings on wash and shelter using participatory approach with high practical involvement.
Ensure improved access to emergency shelter materials.
Prepare regular reports for the wash and infrastructure related activities and document lessons learned.
Perform any other related duties at the request of the line manager.
Reporting Arrangements
This position will report to the WASH & shelter Coordinator based in Mogadishu.
General

Requirements:
University degree/Higher diploma in civil engineering or public health or any other related field from a recognised university
· Minimum (3) three years’ experience with the field of Wash and shelter.
· Demonstrated ability to establish effective and working relations with Wash cluster and other stakeholders.
· Strong understanding of wash and shelter activities and related issues.
· Experience working in remote areas.
· Strong managerial and team leadership skills
· Ability to work well under pressure and in adverse conditions.
· Fluent in written and spoken English and Somali languages.
· Ability to use Computer packages such as Ms Word, Ms excel and engineering software like AutoCAD andArchiCAD.
Terms of employment
· Open to Somali national only. Position will be based in Mogadishu with frequent travel to other fields
- The salary will be on the starting point of grade 4 of the DRC/DDG Somalia salary scale. Contract period it is up to 31 December 2016 (with possible extension).
- Medical insurance for the employee and maximum of 3 dependents (spouse and 2 children)
- Accident Insurance for employee only
